desi—gned Issue 2While working as the design director for desi–gned Issue 2, a publication for the South Asian diaspora by students at Brown University and RISD, I helped lead an effort to focus design on the contemporary rather than historical stories of South Asia in relation to New England. Through the development of a new design language, we tried to bridge the gap between the traditional existing identity system and pivot towards a more contemporary work practice. The publication was then commercially printed and launched at the RISD Museum. It became a moment of celebration of our stories, community, and art.
